COLOMBO (News 1st); Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila has dismissed the opposition's claims that fuel prices could have been reduced if the fuel price formula was in place.

"If we adopted the fuel price formula, the price of fuel be higher than what it is now," he told Parliament.

The Minister went on to note that the Fuel Price Stabilization Fund was in fact used to cover the losses of the Ceylon Electricity Board.

'I am the Supreme Power in Government that hiked fuel prices, as per the motion of no-confidence produced by the opposition' he told Parliament.
