COLOMBO (News 1st): An airman attached to the Hingurakgoda SLAF base, was arrested in connection with 12 burglaries that were reported in the Hingurakgoda town since 2019, Sri Lanka Police said.
Upon receiving numerous complaints in respect of burglaries and the theft of valuable items such as jewellery, Hingurakgoda Police had launched investigations and traced the suspect based on video footage collected in respect of the offences, Police Spokesperson Senior DIG Ajith Rohana told News 1st on Tuesday (Jun. 22).
The suspect was identified as a 28-year-old airman attached to the Sri Lanka Air Force Base in Hingurakgoda.
“The Hingurakgoda Police had conducted further investigations and seized an SUV and a Chilli Grinding Machine that was purchased by the perpetrator by using the money earned through the stolen items,” the Senior DIG Ajith Rohana noted.
Further investigations are underway.
