Three SL Air Force personnel arrested for attempted robbery

COLOMBO (News 1st): Three personnel of the Sri Lanka Air Force who were involved in an attempted robbery were arrested in Kalpitiya, Sri Lanka Police said on Tuesday (Jun. 08). Kalpitiya Police had received a complaint lodged by two people in respect of an attempted robbery, and according to the complaint, the incident had taken place at the Kalkudawa junction in the Kalpitiya Police area, Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana told News 1st. According to the Deputy Police Chief, the complainants had been travelling via a three-wheeler, when their vehicle was blocked by an SUV with three people on board. Thereafter, the Kalpitiya Police had launched investigations and the three people involved in the crime were arrested. "They were identified as members of Sri Lanka Air Force attached to a small Sri Lanka Air Force Station in Palavi," DIG Ajith Rohana noted. The suspects will be produced at the Magistrate on Tuesday (Jun. 08) and Police will seek an order from the court to remand them for an identification parade.
