COLOMBO (News 1st): A special progamme will be in place on Thursday (Jun. 10) to facilitate the payment of pensions for the month of June, the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said.

“The 10th of June has been allocated for the payment of pensions for senior citizens. Accordingly, the President instructed us yesterday (Jun. 07) to deploy the Tri-Forces to provide transportation for senior citizens to visit banks to obtain their pensions, as practiced during the 1st wave of the pandemic,” Army Commander General Shavendra Silva, the Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak told News 1st on Tuesday (Jun. 08).

Accordingly, the Tri-Forces and Sri Lanka Police will jointly provide transport facilities for senior citizens to visit the relevant banks that will be opened on the 10th of June to issue the pensions, the Army Commander noted.

This programme will be conducted with the assistance of Grama Niladharis and Divisional Secretariats.
