COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa on Tuesday (04) alleged the government limited the number of PCR tests to ensure there is no fear among the public, despite it was evident there was a surge in infections.

"That is how they called for elections," said the Opposition Leader in Parliament adding that led to the third wave of COVID-19 infections in Sri Lanka. "What happened to the money in the COVID-19 fund?," questioned Premadasa adding the government was engaged in Corona-Politics, which started with dropping a pot of charmed holy water into the river. "When the pot failed they introduced the tonic," said Sajith Premadasa referring to Dhammika Bandara's infamous miracle Covid tonic. "When the government was playing around with the pots and tonics, all other countries rushed to place orders for the COVID-19 vaccine," he said while noting that Canada had ordered 10 vaccine doses per citizen. As Canada has excess doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, the government must attempt to purchase those doses, suggested Premadasa. "The situation is such that it is the politicians who approve vaccines," alleged the opposition leader adding the government is importing vaccines that are not approved by the World Health Organization to be administered to Sri Lankans. "This can be termed as a criminal act," stressed Sajith Premadasa noting the country has fallen to its knees because of Corona Politics by the Sri Lankan government. Sri Lanka has ordered 04 helicopters and 60 Armored Personnel Carriers, but has not made it a priority to purchase the essential vaccines, said Sajith Premadasa.
