70 overseas returnees COVID positive on Sunday (18); 01 fatality

Colombo (News 1st); The Director-General of Health Services confirmed a death caused by Covid-19 virus infection on Sunday (18). Accordingly, the total number of deaths due to Covid-19 infection in Sri Lanka is 618

1. The deceased is a 52-year-old male resident in Pitabeddara. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus and transferred from Apeksha Hospital Maharagama to IDH hospital where he died on 17.04.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID Pneumonia and Acute Leukemia.

357 COVID-19 cases were reported in Sri Lanka on Sunday (18), said the Department of Government Information.

281 of these cases were from the Peliyagoda Clusters, 06 from the Prison Cluster while 70 returnees from overseas also tested positive for COVID-19.

The highest number of COVID-19 cases reported on Sunday (18) were from the Colombo District, which is 63 infections.
