An academy to groom young leaders by the Centenary Movement

COLOMBO(News 1st): The Centenary movement, an initiative aimed at seeking and creating an academy to groom young leaders who are keen, capable and passionate at actively leading the potential strategic transformation in the country held a press briefing in Colombo today. "We are not waiting any longer we are standing up, we're not perfect, we have a lot to learn but were we are ready to be held accountable, we are ready to work hard day in and day out, surround ourselves for with the best minds and the best people that the nation has to offer" speaking at the event Founder/President of Global Unites, Sri Lanka Unites Prashan De Visser said. "And we are going to give our life to ensure that our children don't inherit the mess that we live in" he added. "So we need to change this idea that there is this one fixed state of development usually a western state of development and if we just get enough cars and refrigerators we will be developed" Writer/Entrepreneur Indrajith Samaraweera said. "If we develop the economy and we destroy the environment then there is no point. If we preserve the environment but our farmers can't grow food then there is no point." Indrajith Samaraweera said. "I think pandemic especially has shown that the economy and health are not two different things. Your policy and your government and your health are not two different things." Mr. Samaraweera further added. The movement will establish an academy that will focus on key political and socio-economic themes. Their curriculum will focus on 6 key thematic policies. They are: Education and Skills, Development, Agriculture and Environment, Governance Diversity and Inclusion, Economy, Health and Well-being.
