Local Politico wanted for Deforestation: Police

COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka Police are conducting further investigations to apprehend a suspect identified as a member of the Baddegama Pradeshiya Sabha for charges related to deforestation. The Baddegama Police upon conducting a special raid in an irrigation forest reserve in Dolekada, Kindilla in the Baddegama Police area, arrested one suspect for felling of trees on Wednesday (Mar. 17), Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana told News 1st. During the raid, Police also seized an excavator and 31 logs. "A special police team was deployed to arrest the Pradeshiya Sabha councillor who is currently absconding police," the Deputy Police Chief noted.
