Three COVID-19 deaths on Friday (19); Fatalities reach 433

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Director-General of Health Services confirmed that three (03) COVID-19 deaths were reported in the country on Friday (Feb. 19), raising Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll to 433. The details of the deceased are as follows: 01. An 83-year-old male from Matale. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 and transferred from the Matale General Hospital to Theldeniya Base Hospital, where he died on 18.02.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia. 02. A 73-year-old male from Kalagedihena. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 and transferred from the Wathupitiwala Base Hospital to IDH, where he died on 19.02.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and bacterial infection. 03. A 63-year-old male from Nugegoda. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 and transferred from a private hospital Colombo to IDH, where he died on 18.02.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia, acute kidney damages, kidney disease, high-blood pressure and acute diabetes. Meanwhile, another 506 new positive COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the country on Friday (19), raising Sri Lanka's COVID-19 caseload to 78,937. All new cases confirmed on Friday (19) are associates of the Peliyagoda cluster, the Department of Government Information said. As of Saturday (Feb. 20), there are 5938 active COVID-19 patients receiving treatment, while 72,566 have recovered.
