CUSTOMS SEIZE RECORD HAUL OF ECSTASY

COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka Customs on Thursday (Jan. 07) seized 18,000 ecstasy pills with a value of Rs. 135 million, making it the largest haul of narcotics seized by a Sri Lankan institution, Customs officials said. "The haul of narcotics weighing 9 kg was sent to Sri Lanka from Belgium via post," Sunil Jayaratne, the Customs Spokesperson and Additional Director at Sri Lanka Customs told reporters in Colombo on Thursday (Jan. 07). According to Jayaratne, this is the largest haul of narcotics seized by a Sri Lankan institution.
