MUNICIPAL COUNCILORS ARRESTED FOR SOLICITING BRIBE

Colombo (News 1st); Two Kandy Municipal Councilors were arrested by the Bribery Commission for soliciting a bribe of Rs. 150,000/- in order to provide preliminary approval from the Kandy MC for the construction of a digital imaging board close to the Katugastota bridge.
SSP Padmini Weerasuriya from the Bribery Commission speaking to News 1st said the duo had solicited the bribe in order to expedite the process and they were arrested at the car park of a private hospital in Kandy.
The two Kandy Municipal Councilors will be produced in court.
