Colombo (News 1st); 180 tourists from Ukraine arrived in Sri Lanka, as the first visitors to the country after the airports were opened for inbound travel.
Shehan Sumanasekara the Director of Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd said the special charter flight arrived at the Mattala International Airport shortly after 02:00 PM on Monday (28).
These tourists are the first to arrive in Sri Lanka as part of the government’s pilot project to attract visitors to the country.
These tourists will move to hotels in Bentota and Koggala.
Shehan Sumanasekara the Director of Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd said the tourists will be accommodated in those hotels for a week and several PCR tests will be carried out as well.
Based on the results of the PCR tests, the tourists will be allowed to visit selected locations in the country.
Based on the project’s success rate, all airports are to be opened for tourist arrivals.
