87 Unauthorized Structures Identified Along Bambalapitiya–Wellawatte Coastal Belt

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Minister of Environment Dr. Dhammika Patabendi says 87 unauthorized structures have been identified along the Marine Drive in Bambalapitiya to the Wasala Canal in Wellawatte.

Speaking to News 1st Minister said steps will be taken to remove the unauthorized structures within this month.

Five zones have been identified where protection and conservation measures are required due to unauthorized construction.

According to the Minister, the Department of Coast Conservation and Coastal Resource Management is responsible for overseeing the protection of the coastline along the Marine Drive.
