President to implement special program to eradicate the prison drug menace

COLOMBO (News 1st) : Speaking on the unrest which transpired at the Mahara Prison, Minister of Lands, S.M. Chandrasena said, "officials have to take grave decisions when around 2,000 to 3,000 inmates are attempting to break into the armory" and "if the inmates did not engage in such acts, it would have not occurred." The minister further insisted that the President will implement a special program regarding large scale drug smugglers and criminals. "When that decision is implemented, this matter will be resolved hopefully" he added.
