Rishad Bathiudeen returned to remand custody

Colombo (News 1st);  MP Rishad Bathiudeen was ordered to be further remanded to the 13th of September by Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage on Tuesday (10).

In addition, Ex-Minister's accountant Alagarathnam Manoranjan and Mohamed Yaseen Samsudeen, a Project Director at the Ministry of Resettlement were also placed in remand custody.

The trio is charged with Criminal Misappropriation of Public Funds to the tune of Rs. 9.5 Million and Violation of Election Laws with regard to the Transportation of IDPs in CTB buses to vote at the 2019 Presidential Election.

In addition, the two drivers of MP Rishad Bathiudeen who were arrested for the possession of two firearms were ordered to be further remanded to the 18th of November.

An Attorney-at-Law surrendered through his counsel in court on Tuesday (10), and he was charged with aiding the MP to evade the Criminal Investigations Department.

The Attorney-at-law and the owner of the house, where Rishad Bathiudeen was hiding were ordered to be released on two surety bails each, and the bond for each bail was Rs. 500,000/-.
