Landslide threat forces 11 families to evacuate in Kalutara

COLOMBO(News 1st): Multiple families in Palinda-Nuwara, Kalutara were evacuated to safe locations due to the risk of landslides. The Divisional Secretary said the decision was made after rockfalls were reported last night in the area during a heavy downpour. He said 11 families were thus evacuated to safety. The National Building Research Organization said it will inspect the area today (06) and advise the local stakeholders on necessary measures that need to be adopted.
