Two groups arrested for treasure hunting

COLOMBO (News1st): Seventeen individuals from two groups have been arrested for unlawful treasure hunting in Ruwanwella, police said. A group of nine was arrested upon a tip-off near a house in Ruwanwella along with a van and other equipment used for treasure hunting. Another group of eight were also arrested for the same offence in the area. Two motorvehicles and equipment used for treasure hunting were confiscated by the police during the time of the arrest. The suspects are residents of Wellampitiya , Ragama, Kadawatha, Kegalle , Avissawella, Ruwanwella, Sigiriya, Anuradhapura, and Kosgama.
