Two elephants located following escape in Pinnawala

COLOMBO (News1st): Two elephants that escaped the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage have been located following a search operation, officials said on Tuesday. The elephants had escaped into the Hiriwadunna area following a fight while being taken to bathe on Tuesday morning, officials at the elephant orphanage said. The elephants had damaged several cultivation lands, a house and many construction sites of the area, according to area residents. Officials said they could tame one elephant within a short time after locating it, but had to tame the elephant named "Rangiri" after tranquilizing it. The elephants managed to escape since they were not chained in keeping with international laws, orphanage staff added.
