COLOMBO (News1st) : A COVID-19 patient from Jinthupitiya in Colombo has subsequently been tested negative for the virus, health officials said on Sunday.
The individual, a seafarer, had tested positive for the virus while undergoing self-quarantine at his residence on Thursday.
“The person…was identified by the health authorities as a high-risk person,” director general of health services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said in a statement on Sunday.
The move prompted authorities to send 154 area residents for quarantine in Kandakadu, and to conduct PCR tests.
“…the 154 persons those who were in Kandakadu Quarantine Centre were also sent back home,” Dr. Jasinghe added.
Sri Lanka has recorded 2076 COVID-19 patients since the virus started spreading in the country on March 11.
