COLOMBO (News 1st): As of Friday (June 19), the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 1947, according to the latest figures published by the Epidemiology Unit at the Ministry of Health.

A total of 23 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed on Thursday (June 18).

“Of the new cases yesterday, 18 were returnees from Dubai, 02 were returnees from Qatar and 01 each from Russia and the UK, among others,” said the Government Information Department.

There are 515 active COVID-19 patients receiving medical treatment.

The total number of recoveries in the country stands at 1421 after 24 COVID-19 patients were discharged on Thursday, following complete recovery.

Meanwhile, another 98 Sri Lankans repatriated from Melbourne, Australia arrived in the island on Thursday morning, aboard a repatriation flight operated by SriLankan Airlines.
