COLOMBO (News1st) : Villagers in Kandakkuliya rejoice upon meeting members of News 1st’s Gammadda initiative, after a project dating back to 2016, is now bearing fruits.

The community hall in the village had been in a dilapidated state for more than two decades, before Gammadda, in 2016, stepped in to meet the requirement of the people.

“Public representatives who were voted into power by the people, and who do not fulfill their duties, are the ones who will be upset about the Sirasa Gammadda initiative,” a monk in the village told News 1st back then.

The foundation stone to construct the community hall in the village that falls under the purview of the Kalpitiya Divisional Secretariat was laid on September 20, 2016.

In less than two months, Gammadda vested the villagers with a community hall, that serves as their gathering place, a plea that had been ignored for two decades.
