COLOMBO (News1st): A former monitoring MP at the external affairs ministry has urged a probe into claims that a politician had obtained ransom from the chief of a security firm. "Nissanka Senadhipathi made a direct statement, claiming that after 2015, a politician from the south had obtained a ransom of 380 million from him," Sajin Vass Gunawardena said. Senadhipathi is the chairman of Avant Garde Security Service. Gunawardena pointed out that the politician had allegedly helped Senadhipathi to free himself from legal proceedings. "He also claims that at the time he was arrested and imprisoned, he had sent a message to the so called politician, urging him to repay the 380 million," the former monitoring MP said. Accordingly, he urged the acting police chief Chandana Wickramaratne to launch an investigation into this. "There is a voice recording as well. So when there is evidence, why is this matter not being taken up," Gunawardena queried.
