Colombo (News 1st): President Gotabaya Rajapaksa instructed authorities to take stern action against the people who help to spread Dengue and ordered the authorities to take immediate action to curb the spread. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Monday advised the officials to make immediate preparations to curb the spread of dengue that could follow after the rainy season at a special discussion held with the Presidential Task Force for the Prevention of Dengue. The data showed the number of dengue patients had decreased during the first quarter of this year compared to last year. President Rajapaksa addressing the task force said that the environment police should be more active and they should carry out the legal duties along with the PHIs. "They need to go to the lowest level and find out the details, that is what is important," President Rajapaksa said. "The garbage collection took place properly to a certain extent because of the environment police," President Rajapaksa said appreciating the work done by the environment police to contain the spread of the Dengue in the country with the monitoring of the activities of the garbage collection and garbage management. The President and the Prime Minister also advised the officials to review the plans set by the Health Committee, once a week at a meeting with the participation of the Governors and Heads of local bodies.
