Another group of people stranded in the Western Province due to the police curfew, will receive transport today to return to their home towns.
Transport will be provided to nearly 2,000 people who were trapped in the Gampaha district, to return to their home towns, police said.
The group also includes a number people who were stranded in Colombo.
Today’s batch will include those returning to several districts including Nuwara-Eliya, Badulla and Amapara, according to the police.
Upon returning home, they will be subjected to a 14 day quarantine period at their homes.
Nearly 10,000 people from a total of around 50,000 who were stranded in the Western province, have already been sent to their home towns.
Others who wish to travel to their home towns will also be included in groups to the said program, in the future, the police said.
