COLOMBO (News 1st):- An SLTB bus traveling from Makumbura to Hambantota along the southern expressway caught fire near the Kokmaduwa exit point. The bus that caught fire is from the Ambalanthota depot. The bus caught fire when the bus driver attempted to switch on vipers of the bus when a slight shower was experienced in the area.

According to our correspondent, around 50 passengers were traveling in the bus at the time of the incident.

As the main door of the bus was jammed measures were taken to open the emergency exit door to take the passengers out. The fire was doused by the Galle Matara fire brigade with the support of the police special task force and the Matara police.

Our correspondent noted that the bus was completely burnt down, however none of the passengers were injured.
