AG calls for action against military personnel responsible for abductions

Colombo (News 1st): Attorney General Dappula De Livera had informed the Secretary of Defence and the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy to take necessary action against the accused in the Sri Lanka Navy over the abduction and enforced disappearance of 11 youth from Colombo. The 11 abductions are said to have taken place between the 25th of August 2008 and 21st of March 2009 on 06 separate occasions, from Kotahena and suburban areas. Attorney General Dappula De Livera had already requested Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya to appoint a Trial-at-Bar to take up the matter. In addition, the Attorney General had informed the Secretary of Defence and the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army to take necessary action against the accused in the abduction and enforced disappearance of Prageeth Ekneligoda and the Rathupaswala shooting case.
