Lightning strike kills a 64-year-old

Colombo (News 1st): A 64-year-old died after being struck by lightning in Opanayake, Akarella. The Police noted that he was struck while working in a paddy field. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department noted that fairly heavy falls about 75-100 mm are likely at some places in Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern provinces and in Anuradhapura, Kurunegala and Vavuniya districts. They added that light showers may occur in coastal areas of Western and Southern provinces and in Puttalam, Ampara and Batticaloa districts.
