Verdict issued against rugby players who molested a minor

Colombo (News 1st) -Colombo High Court Justice Vikum Kaluarachchi issued the verdict against two rugby players who had been indicted on the charges of sexually abusing a 6-year-old student and abetting to commit the crime. The two accused were sentenced to 10 and 9 years of rigorous imprisonment, respectively. In addition to the incarceration, the defendants were ordered to pay Rs.200,000 in compensation to the victim along with an individual fine of Rs.20,000. It had been revealed in court that the two accused had sexually harassed the minor who visited the school premises to attend Badminton practices in November of 2014. The defendants were reportedly Advanced Level students during the time of the incident. The defendants and the victim were reportedly students of a leading school in Colombo.
