Colombo (News 1st): Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe declared open a new three-storied building at the Baddegama Pradeshiya Saba in Galle today (September 06). This building was constructed at a cost of Rs. 87.4 million under the Ministry of Internal and Home Affairs and Provincial Councils and Local Government.
Speaking at the event he noted that no one in the history of this country has spent as much as the money that was spent on the development of villages in the past 4 years. He said every Grama Niladhari division received at least Rs. 5 million. The Prime Minister went onto note that the schools and buildings that they constructed in the villages were done in addition to providing this sum of money.
The Premier hopes to double this level of development during the next 5 years. He stressed that no other government has worked for the villages as much as this government.
