Gotabaya Rajapaksa represents all the parties-MP Rohitha Abeygunawardana

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Central Working Committee of the SLFP convened a meeting this evening. The meeting was chaired by Party Leader Maithripala Sirisena at the official residence of the President. According to our correspondent, a number of members of the Central Working Committee were present at the meeting. Following are the views expressed by the General Secretary of the SLFP, Dayasiri Jayasekara during the meeting. He said that he is hoping to discuss the matters that need to be discussed with the SLPP and at the Central Working Committee. He added that they will start a new session of discussions with the SLPP tomorrow(August 27) evening. He added that despite a number of requests made to the President to contest at the presidential election he has not responded yet. Chairman of the SLPP, Professor G. L. Peiris revealed its Presidential Election Candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa is yet to obtain membership of the party. It was reported recently that the General Secretary of the SLFP invited Gotabaya Rajapaksa to obtain the membership of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. When the chairman of the SLPP was questioned whether they consider this request, he rejected the thought of it. UPFA MP, Rohitha Abeygunawardana noted that the SLPP has already proved that they have the majority in the country and Gotabaya Rajapaksa had not sought the membership of the SLPP as he intends to represent all the parties in the country.
