Requesting security detail for presidential candidates is humourous-Ven. Baththaramulle Seelarathana Thero

COLOMBO (News 1st) -  Presidential Candidate of the Janasetha Peramuna Ven. Baththaramulle Seelarathana Thero expressed his views on MP Udaya Gammanpila's statement of assigning a security detail for presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Ven. Baththaramulle Seelarathana Thero noted that MP Udaya Gammanpilas request was humorous as both President Maithripala Sirisena and the Premier are not even mildly tempted to provide security details to any of the presidential candidates. The Thero added that he is the presidential candidate of the Janasetha Peramuna and although he has requested a security detail from the Commander of Security forces and the Secretary of Defence in writing but to no avail. "We only have the security of the public now. If you are here to serve the public, the people will keep you safe." Thero concluded.
