Two youth drown in Mahaweli river

COLOMBO (News 1st):- Two people were pronounced dead after they drowned in the Mahaweli river in Mahiyanganaya. The police said that a group of four youth who were bathing in the Mahaweli river last evening (August 17) had drowned. The area residents and the police had rescued the four boys and admitted them to the hospital. However, two of them died while receiving treatment. The deceased individuals, aged 17 and 21 years are residents of Medagoda, Wattegama. The other two who are currently in critical condition are continuing to receive treatment at the ICU of the Mahiyanganaya hospital.
