JVP's "Paada Satana" reached Nugegoda today

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The protest march organized by the Janantha Vimukthi Peramuna against the government, reached Nugegoda today(July 08). The second day of the protest march commenced from Moratuwa and the march was organized in line with the No Confidence Motion presented against the government. The march which commenced from Moratuwa reached the Nugegoda town via Katubedda, Mt. Lavinia and Dehiwala at around 3.30pm. General Secretary of the JVP, Tilvin Silva noted that they would fight until the current government steps down and appoint a leadership free from Mahinda Rajapaksa. Leader of JVP, Anura Kumara Dissanayake noted their 41 km march carried only one intention it was sending the current government home. He said that they would appoint a government that would abide by the people of the country. He added that the country would not need an opposition who only provides voice cuts for people but leadership that would rebel and stand with the people. He noted that they have no intention of protecting the government and they were the first to raise the voice against Mahinda Rajapaksa's government. He went on to note that both Mahinda Rajapaksa and prime minister protect each other. He divulged that when Mahinda Rajapaksa was defeated in 2015, prime minister took the responsibility to protect Mahinda Rajapaksa and his family, accordingly when the attempt was made to topple the government in the last October, Gotabaya Rajapaksa promised to protect Ranil Wickremesinghe.

We request all progressive, left and independent movements to join us in this. We will go ahead with this campaign to send this government home and to appoint a people oriented leadership without letting Mahinda Rajapaksa come in to power. -- Representatives of the JVP convened at the Ananda Samarakoon Open air Theatre to hold a public meeting. Dub Anura Kumara Dissanayaka Leader - JVP -- We are carrying a message by travelling 41 kilometres from Kalutara to Nugegoda. It is the message of ousting this Government. It is the message of bringing a new Government. Most people ask us as to why we took to the streets suddenly. The most lamenting group of people because we took to the streets is the group of Mahinda Rajapaksa. Why? The tenure of the Opposition that provides voice cuts to him is ending. What is this Opposition of Rajapaksa? Going to weddings and giving voice cuts. Going to Temples and giving voice cuts. Going to courts after stealing and giving voice cuts. 3 or 4 people come before the media and give voice cuts. But the people does not need an Opposition that merely gives voice cuts. they looking for an Opposition that rebels with them, that fights along side them. We have been doing that so far. We took to the streets with two intentions in mind. 1st, we have to oust this Government. 2nd, starting the fight to form a Government that would stand by the people. That is why we are on the streets now. Then, most people say that the JVP protected the Government in the recent past. Who asks it the most? The group of Mahinda. i will say one thing, We were the party that worked most towards ousting the Rajapaksa Government In 2015. That is the truth. There is nothing to hide. Where is Indika Bandaranayake who was in Mahinda's Kurunegla list? Dayasiri Jayasekara who was in Mahinda's list, held a ministerial porfolio in the UNP. Therefore, it was Mahinda Rajapaksa who paved the way for Ranil Wickremesinghe to obtain the majority in Parliament in August 2015. Not the JVP. I challenge Ranil Wickremesinghe and Mahinda Rajapaksa. At 3 a.m. on the 9th of January 2015, Ranil Wickremesinghe visited Mahinda Rajapsksa at the Temple Trees. They had a discussion for 1 and a half hours. What did they tralk about? Please reveal that before the country. Mahinda said nothing but, I will step down and go but please protect my children, my family and my brother. The bond between them relies on Ranil Wickremesinghe proecting the Rajapaksa family that commited large scale frauds for 10 long years in this country. On the 26th of October last year, Mahinda Rajapaksa and Maithripala Sirisena formed a Government. Ranil Wickremesinghe was cornered inside the Temple Trees. But at about 11 in the night, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa went to Temple Trees and met Ranil Wickremesinghe. What did Gotabhaya Rajapaksa tell Ranil Wickremesinghe? Did Ranil Wickremesinghe say what was discussed? Did Gotabhaya Rajapaksa say what was discussed? Don't be scared, we will protect you from everything. That is what was said. That being greatful. Then he asked whether you have enough people to build the country. Who are the people that Ranil Wickremesinghe possess? John Amaratunga, Lakshman Kiriella, Malik Samarawickrama, Sagala Ratnayake, Ravi Karunanayake. Who represents the arsenal of Mahinda Rajapaksa? Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Johnston Fernando of Kurunegala, Laxman Perera. This is rare gold. Wimal Weerawansa..... and.... Gammanpila.............
