Colombo (News 1st): General Secretary of the SLFP MP Dayasiri Jayasekera spoke of the people who testified before the parliamentary special committee. He noted that what they saw from the information received on the 5th was that Senior DIG, Nilantha Jayawardena of the SIS has informed the Chief of National Intelligence, Sisira Mendis of the attack on the 7th and he should give instructions as to what steps should be taken after that, however, these instructions were not given till now. He said Sisira Mendis was not in the country at that time. It is questionable as to what steps were taken by him, and why he left the country. He went onto note that even the Defence Secretary was not in Colombo and he was in Diyatalawa. MP Jayasekara said according to the information he received he was at his estate in Kurunegala on the 20th. He questioned; "Is he trying to blame the President for the repercussions of that?" He noted that the other question is, they say yes to sending this letter to the President's Security Division, but none of them asks whether this letter was sent to the Prime Minister's Security Division. He said this has been sent to the Prime Minister's Security Division as well.
"So what did the Chief of the Prime Minister's Security Division do? Minister Kiriella says that they received the information on the 4th. I raised this question in Parliament. Who received the information on the 4th? So Minister Kiriella was aware of this since 4th April. Why didn't they take any action when they knew about this?"
