COLOMBO (News 1st): Police media spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunesekara states that a loss of approximately Rs. 15 billion has been incurred when importing rice for Lak Sathosa.

He further said that a proper procurement process was not in place when importing the stock of rice. He claimed that 80,000 metric tons of the imported rice stock, was not in a suitable condition for consumption, and a part of the rice stock was used as animal feed.

SP Gunasekara added that a portion of the rice stock was destroyed, resulting in a loss of approximately Rs. 15 billion.
