Police officer shot and killed during a raid

Colombo (News 1st): A police officer was shot and killed during a raid carried out in Urumuththa, Akuressa. Police stated that the shooting had taken place when a group of police officers from Akuressa police raided an illicit liquor racket this afternoon. The police officer who was critically injured during the shooting succumbed to his injuries upon admission to the hospital. The victim is a 30-year-old Police constable named Kasun Sampath. He is a resident of Kolombagewatta, Diddeniya. The suspect connected to the shooting has been identified, however, he had fled the area.
