Batticaloa Campus not approved to conduct degree programmes : UGC

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The University Grants Commission declared that the institution named 'Batticaloa Campus' was not approved to conduct any type of degree programme. Chairman of the UGC, Professor Mohan Silva issued a comminiqué this afternoon stating that that the Shariya University had not submitted a single document requesting to include a degree programme in the curriculum. The comminiqué added that according to the University Act 1978 the University Grants Commission is responsible for coordinating the provision of education at 15 state universities and overseeing proper management.
