CPC Shooting: MSD Police Sergeant released from charges

Colombo (News 1st): Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne today (April 5) released a Police Sergeant attached to the Ministerial Security Division from the charge of shooting a person inside the premises of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources Development. The Attorney General in a written submission had noted legal proceedings will not be instituted any further against the suspect. Today the Colombo Crimes Division, the investigating body of the incident, presented facts to the court. On October 27th 2018 during unrest which broke out at the CPC premises in Dematagoda shots were fired resulting in the death of one person.
