COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Keselwaththa police and the Colombo Crimes Division have begun investigations into a shooting that occurred in Wella Veediya, Keselwaththa.
Police Media spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara said that a statement has already been recorded from the victim who sustained injuries in the shooting. The 28-year-old victim is receiving treatment at the National Hospital. He had reportedly been shot when he was playing football in the area.
The shooting occurred over an extortion racket when a fruit vendor in the area refused to pay the racketeers. The victim that was shot in the incident was a relative of the fruit vendor.
