Colombo (News 1st): The development of the second phase of the Kilinochchi District Hospital commenced today (Feb 15). Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe participated in this event. Rs. 1.9 billion has been allocated for development activities. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe also chaired a discussion held at the Kilinochchi District Secretariat. The Prime Minister noted that during the war the Northern Province was affected the most and people on all sides died. He noted that a leader of the United National Party and a General Secretary of the party died during the time and a Presidential Candidate of the party passed away. Premier said he became the leader of the party after everyone else fell victim to bomb explosions. The Prime Minister pointed out that it is all in the past and therefore he has no reason to quarrel with the Tamil people. He noted that there are some ongoing cases against LTTE cadres and well as the army and police, all of this was done before 2015 by the previous government. He went onto note that they carried forward those cases as there was sufficient evidence. PM Wickremesinghe said they cannot continue to keep on filing cases, there should be reconciliation at some point. He noted that they must speak the truth, express their apologies and bring this to an end.
