President re-awoke UNP after 24 years - Maithri Gunarathne

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Governor of the Central province and General Secretary of the UNFF Maithri Gunarathne claimed that back when he was in the UNP, nothing was actually done for the UNPers. He said that when they realized that the party will always remain in the opposition that they had asked the leader Ranil Wickremesinghe to step down. They had wanted the leadrship to be handed over to another person. They were kicked out of the party following disciplinary inquiries. Maithri Gunarathne noted that the UNP now has to behave according to the whims of the TNA. He said that President Maithripala Sirisena had re-awoken the UNPers after 24 years. The Governor said that when the cabinet is only 30 members that all the UNP members could be Ministers. Now by attempting to introduce a national government that he (Ranil) is trying to give  18 more Ministerial portfolios.
