COLOMBO (News 1st) - Speaking at an event held at the Army Camp in Panagoda, veteran actor Bandu Samarasinghe spoke about the proposed formation of a national government and corrupt activities of ministers and MPs. He noted that whenever the members of parliament make mistakes, his name is brought up adding that it happens at least once or twice a month. Samarasinghe noted that in the current political landscape it is not good to use their names in such a manner. However, he noted that he would not have taken umbrage if their names were used during the past when people such as N.M. Perera and Sir John Kothalawala were in power. The actor explained that he is capable of making such statements because he is not employed by an arm of the Government. He noted that most of the people cannot freely express their views in this manner because they have to consider their monthly wage, transfers and even their pensions. He noted that a majority of the country's problems could be attributed to management issues as well as because of feelings such as greed.
