Parliament begins

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Parliamentary proceedings underway. 13.33 - Making a special statement in parliament, R. Sampanthan says that there are two opposition leaders as Speaker has not removed him from the position. 13.06 - The session begins, and is chaired by Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri. The debate on the proposal presented by the JVP yesterday (December 18) on abolishing the executive powers of the president, is due to continue today.
