Assistant Leader of the UNP MP Ravi Karunanayake stated that there was an era when even people like them were placed in the dustbin by jealous politicians. "If there were delays in the things we did before, we ask for your forgiveness and I wish to say before you now that within the next 1 and a half years, we will fulfill all the promises we made to you," said MP Karunanayake. Meanwhile speaking at the rally MP Sajith Premadasa swore that just as they formed the government, they will now distribute land to the ordinary people, by the bushel. He noted that they will also begin the Gam Udawa 20,000 project which will bring victory to the public by 2025. MP Premadasa noted to the members of the party that they must spend even their personal wealth, for the people of the country, to protect the people. Prime Minister Rail Wickremesinghe also addressing the rally stated that they faced the fire of democracy successfully and that want to take the country on a path of reconciliation. He said that they will put forward a political solution under a unitary state. He noted that they must also ensure the abolition of the executive presidency. PM Wickremesinghe said they will form a new alliance and register it as a political party, which will be the National Democratic Front. "On Friday, I will present this resolution to our Working Committee, and I have no doubt that all of us will come together to form a large alliance to bring about democracy," said the Prime Minister.
