India welcomes resolution of Sri Lankan political situation

COLOMBO (News 1st) - In response to media queries regarding the recent political development in Sri Lanka, the Official Spokesperson of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs Raveesh Kumar said that as a close neighbour and a true friend India welcomes the resolution of the political situation in Sri Lanka. The spokesperson continued to say that the current situation that was brought about is a reflection of the maturity demonstrated by all political forces, and also of the resilience of Sri Lankan democracy and its institutions. He added that India remains committed to taking forward its people-oriented development projects in Sri Lanka while also expressing confidence that Indo-Sri Lanka relations will continue to move on an upward trajectory.
