COLOMBO (News 1st) – Convening a media briefing in Colombo JVP’s Propaganda Secretary Vijitha Herath said that they will not support anyone for the post of Prime Minister. He continued to say that as a party they will not support anyone to establish a government or become Prime Minister and that they will follow in parliament the same principle followed in the provincial councils and the local government bodies.

He said that if the UNP thinks that they can rejoice over the court verdict issued by the Supreme Court yesterday (December 13) that they are mistaken because it was a defeat of the conspiracy and not a victory for the UNP adding that it was a victory for the rule of law  and the people adding that if the situation is interpreted in the wrong way that there would be chaos in the country.

Vijitha Herath also said that the person who should be appointed as Prime Minister should be decided by the president based on who he thinks has a majority in parliament. Therefore the President cannot decline to appoint a person with the parliament’s majority due to personal grudges.
