COLOMBO (News 1st): UPFA MP Rohitha Abeygunawardana spoke to the media at a briefing convened by the Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna today (December 10) and said that, back in the day, J. R. Jayawardene contested elections in a manner similar to the Ambalangoda thread puppetry performances.

“J.R.Jayawardene is the uncle and Ranil Wickremesinghe is the nephew,” he said.

Rohitha Abeygunawardana added that Ranil Wickremesinghe “uses a completely different approach”. He claimed that the UNP leader is “afraid of elections”.

“On the other hand, there is Sajith Premadasa who says that he did not reject the position of Prime Minister. He likes to be the Prime Minister but is afraid to take up such a position.” – he added.
