COLOMBO (News 1st) – The number of skeletal remains recovered from the mass grave in Mannar has now risen up to 207.

Professor Raj Somadeva who is part of the excavation team stated that 18 skeletal remains of children were also recovered.

The excavation activities began in May this year after skeletal remains were discovered at a site proposed for the construction of a Sathosa building in Mannar.

Professor Raj Somadeva said that measures have been taken to subject the bones to carbon dating.
