Army to prove innocence of Sri Lankan Commander of UN peace corps

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Sri Lanka Army announced it would file an appeal that the Commander assigned to the UN peacekeeping force in Mali is not guilty of any Human Right abuses. The United Nations last week requested the Sri Lankan Government to recall the commander of the Sri Lankan UN peacekeeping force in Mali following the UN review of his Human Right records. Military Spokesperson, Brigadier Atapattu said the Sri Lanka Army would comply with the request of the United Nations and recall the Commander, but he added that they will also file an appeal to prove he had not violated Human Rights. The 200 strong contingents with its Commander left the Island on the 24th of December 2017 and was expected to return to the island on the 24th of December this year.
