Grade 05 scholarships to be doubled

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A senior official at the Ministry of Education confirmed to News 1st that the number of scholarships awarded to the students who pass the grade 5 scholarship examination will be doubled. The official also added that they are in the process of drawing up a cabinet paper seeking approval for the plan. The decision to double the number of scholarships awarded would be enacted with the release of the 2018 scholarship examination results. At present, more than 15,000 students receive the scholarship.
